Why have we contacted you?

A clear explanation of why we’ve been in touch

If you’ve heard from Title Research, you may be wondering why.

We understand that being contacted about an estate can feel unexpected. You may not have been aware of any connection, or you might be unsure what it means. We’re here to explain clearly and reassure you.

Why may we have contacted you?

We are often instructed by Solicitors or estate administrators to help identify and locate beneficiaries. This usually happens when:

  • Someone has passed away without a Will, or

  • The Will refers to relatives who are not easily identifiable

In these cases, we carry out genealogical research to find the people who may be entitled to inherit.

If we have contacted you, it is because our research suggests you may be connected to an estate.

What happens next?

At this stage, we are gathering information and confirming family relationships.

We may ask you to:

  • Confirm details about yourself or your family

  • Provide documents to support this information

  • Help us build a clearer picture of the family

This helps us ensure that an estate is distributed correctly and fairly.

Are you being asked to pay anything?

No.

We do not charge you for responding to our enquiry or for confirming your details.

We are instructed by the estate or its legal representatives, not by individual beneficiaries.

Our role is to identify and verify entitlement, not charge you for being contacted.

Why this process matters

It’s important that estates are distributed to the correct people.

Without proper research, there is a risk that:

  • Entitled beneficiaries are missed

  • Estates are distributed incorrectly

  • Future claims may arise

Our work helps ensure that everyone who is entitled is identified and included.
